Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, Na-Baron, Birthday Boy, Beloved

Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen is a secondary antagonist who only appears in the first Dune novel. He's the youngest nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and the heir to House Harkonnen.

Despite being fairly minor to the overall plot of Dune, he is my favourite character. My obsession with him is partially the reason why I'm so passionate about Dune, which is kind of embarrasing to admit. Looking around any of RabbitNET will tell you how much I love Feyd-Rautha, but I still felt like he deserved his own shrine page.

I've themed this page around Denis Villeneuve's take on Feyd, as portrayed by Austin Butler in Dune: Part Two (2024), because he was my first exposure to the character and my favourite, but I love all renditions of Feyd.

From the minute I left the cinema after seeing Dune: Part 2, I knew Feyd would be a problem for me. He was basically all I could think about for the next few weeks. I was doodling him in my sketchbook at uni, it was bad.

But Feyd is basically like if somebody tried to genetically engineer the perfect fictional man for me. He's sadistic and dangerous, but also kinda quirky. Feyd has been portrayed by rockstars in the past, he was played by Sting in the David Lynch adaptation and was almost played by Mick Jagger in Jodorowsky's Dune, and it makes sense when you realise that Feyd is basically the Duniverse equivalent of a rockstar. He loves to perform for people in the arena, and his people love him back.

He also has a lot of issues. Mommy issues, daddy issues, uncle issues, he forces his brother to kiss his feet. He's a mess and I love mess.
